Relaxing evening ride around neighborhood. Ten degrees warmer than the last two nights. Good!

Below is an "Auto shift" bike from the dumpster I am messing with. I put a rear wheel from another bike on but I think I will set up and use the original since the fancy derailleur seems to be in fair shape. There is a thin pulley behind the largest cog (middle picture). The thin belt goes from it to the small pulley visible at the bottom of the derailleur next to the spokes (bottom picture). As the shaft spins the chrome weight at the outside end of the shaft opens up like a butterfly which pulls the derailleur over to progressively higher gears. It will be interesting to see if and how it works.
